Meet Sweet Penny! Penny came to LCAL from Animal Friends of the Valley where she was left in the night drop with no owner information. Penny was slated for euthanasia the day she was saved by the team at LCAL. When she initially came to the Animal Friends of the Valley there was some speculation that she might be pregnant, but everyone thought that was ruled out when she lost 7 lbs at Animal Friends of the Valley. Fast forward to a month after coming to LCAL, it became very clear that Penny was pregnant. LCAL was able to quickly find her a foster home to provide her with a comfy spot to give birth to her babies. In late December, Penny gave birth to nine puppies but, unfortunately, only four survived. We are both sad for the ones she lost and grateful for the ones that were saved. Penny was a great mom to her four pups and helped them to grow strong enough to be adopted. All four are now adopted into loving puppy homes. Now it is Penny’s turn to find her forever home!

Penny is a calm, sweet spirit! She is a shy girl who just wants to be loved and snuggled. She loves head scratches and will slowly close her eyes as she enjoys them! Penny loves all food items and with her treat motivation paired with her calm demeanor, she will be easy to train. Her favorite words are “good girl” which she responds to with full body wiggles. Penny is good on a leash and house trained. She has done well with both dogs and cats. With her calm demeanor we believe she will do best as a single dog or with another dog who is calm like her. She really is quite the dream dog!
