Jess
Sex: Female
Breed: Border Collie/Shepherd
Age: 1 year
Size: 45 lbs
Health: Good, finishing recovery from left side pelvic fracture, spayed
Ideal Match: A home looking for an active, playful dog
Personality:
While Jess has the coloring of a bi-color shepherd, she has much more the temperament and behavior of a border collie – curious, interactive, anxious to learn, social, friendly, playful, and endless energy. She even seems to give “eye” and stalk at times when out on a walk. Structurally, she is built more like a border collie and she has incredible speed and athleticism.
Jess came to us last fall needing to recover from surgery to repair a pelvic fracture which was believed to have been the result of being hit by a car. She underwent surgery to place a plate and screws in the left side of her pelvis and things have healed well. X-rays in early Dec. revealed all to look good and she was cleared to gradually return to full activity.
She is house trained, crate trained, dog friendly and people friendly. She has not been exposed to cats. Jess is eager to learn and has a good start on her obedience training (sit, down, place, target, touch, out, come, wait, “ok” as her release word and an implied stay). Jess is toy motivated and loves to play until her human playmate is worn out! She still has a lot of puppy in her and can be a little mouthy when playing. As a result, she would probably do best in a home with children over the age of 8.
This little pup has an amazingly wonderful temperament and is pure joy to spend time with. If her foster didn’t already have two German Shepherds, she would be keeping her. 🙂
If you are looking for a wonderful, fun, medium-sized companion, this girl might just be the one for you!
