Baxter
Breed: Beagle/Lab mix
Age: 6 years
Size: 40 lbs
Health: Healthy, neutered
Ideal Match: An active home with a firm handler
Personality:
Baxter is laid back and quiet in his kennel, but also playful like a puppy when out and about. He knows sit and he’s already house-trained. He is head-shy, and may flinch when petted especially by someone he doesn’t know, so he’ll need continued training for that. He is already showing improvement.
Baxter needs a strong handler. He’s not terrible on leash, but he needs someone who can confidently lead him and redirect him, especially around other dogs. Training will be key.
Baxter was briefly in a home with kids (ages around 8-12) and did great with them.
Baxter seems to be reactive to other dogs. Sometimes he is fine, other times not, so it is hard to know when another dog will excite him. This is another reason a firm handler is best for him.
