Poppie
Hospice Foster
Female | Chocolate Lab
8 years; 63lbs
Poppie is a sweet, active girl who seems far younger than 8 years old! She is a well-behaved girl who adores walks, loves to play, and can’t get enough love from her people.
We pulled Poppie from the shelter hoping to resolve some minor medical needs and rehome her, but when intubating Poppie for her spay, our veterinarian found a mass on her tongue. A biopsy confirmed it is melanoma. Poppie has been moved to our hospice foster program, becoming one of our forever foster dogs. We will provide for her medically and financially, and she will live out the rest of her days being loved and adored by her amazing foster family.
Poppie is doing wonderful despite the diagnosis. Every single day with her foster family Poppie gets two long walks, enjoys enrichment puzzles for at least one meal, and plays multiple games of fetch and tug o’ war. She is happy and energetic and has no idea she has a highly aggressive cancer.
