Personality:

Meet Mr. Benjamin AKA Ben!! This little 8-pound chihuahua mix was a stray before being picked up and taken to Ramona Humane Society. They contacted us and we scooped him up! This little, adorable dude has severe grade 4 heart murmur, but that doesn’t keep him down.

Ben loves his humans once he gets to know you. He loves to sleep and snuggle with you wrapped up in blanket (or under one)! Ben is also a huge fan of the high ground! You can find him on the top cushions of couches or the top most pillow in the pile. Ben will also join you in a fun little howl session if you want! (Video to show how fun It is!)

At first he was unsure of people and his foster dog brother and sisters, but now he fits right in. He is currently in foster with 3 boxers and 1 fluffy lab chow chow mix, and Ben holds his own. He is a gentle soul but will let you know when he doesn’t like something and will let the other dogs know when he wants his space. Because of this Ben will do best in a home with calmer dogs and older humans.

The results of Ben’s echo cardiogram showed his grade 4 heart murmur is caused by mild degenerative valve disease. This is not uncommon in small breed dogs. There are no medications needed at this time and he is okay to undergo anesthesia to be neutered. He will need a follow-up echo cardiogram in one year.

It is also important to note that there are times that Ben sometimes needs to stop due to a small moment of respiratory issues that end very quickly. This is another reason that a calmer household is key for him!
