Leisel

Breed:  Shepherd mix
Age: 3 years
Size: 40-45 lbs
Health: Wound care rehabilitation

Not Yet Available for Adoption, No Applications Accepted

Personality:

After being hit by a car and running off scared while dragging a leg, Leisel was tracked by a good Samaritan who was able to get her to VCA Mission Animal and Bird Hospital. Thankfully no bones were broken and there were no internal injuries, but Leisel experienced significant wounds to both front legs and nerve damage to the left front leg.

Last Chance at Life was contacted in the hope that we could help this dog in need. Because of Leisel’s overall good prognosis combined with her sweet temperament—people friendly, dog friendly, and even cat friendly—our board decided said yes.

Leisel required several days of hospitalization to stabilize her, address her pain, and surgically debride her wounds. She has now moved into foster care but is requiring daily bandage changes to both limbs under sedation at the vet hospital. The wounds are showing progress towards healing but due to how extensive they are, these daily bandage changes will need to continue to several more weeks.

If you would like to join us in helping Leisel get back on her feet, you can donate here. Whether it’s $5 or $500, we guarantee your contribution will make an impact. Every little bit helps. It is because of people like you that Last Chance at Life Rescue is able to say “Yes” to dogs like Leisel and be their “last chance at life.”
