Meet Sweet Penny! Penny came to LCAL from Animal Friends of the Valley where she was left in the night drop with no owner information. Penny was slated for euthanesia the day she was saved by the team at LCAL. When she initially came to the Animal Friends of the Valley there was some speculation that she might be pregnant, but everyone thought that was ruled out when she lost 7 lbs at Animal Friends of the Valley. Fast forward to a month after coming to LCAL, it became very clear that Penny was pregnant. LCAL was able to quickly find her a foster home to provide her with a comfy spot to give birth to her babies. In late December, Penny gave birth to nine puppies but, unfortunately, only four survived. We are both sad for the ones she lost and grateful for the ones that were saved. Penny and her puppies are doing well and getting stronger in their foster home.
Once Penny is ready for adoption, she will need someone who can be patient with her as she feels more comfortable and trusting. She is a shy girl who appears to have never really known the love of a person and will take some time learning to enjoy it. Once she does know that she can trust you, she will give you little tail wags and lay her head in your lap. She is quite a lover of hot dogs and quickly trusts anyone who has them to give as treats. She loves head scratches and will slowly close her eyes as she enjoys them! Penny is good on a leash and has done well with other dogs when dog tested. Penny does not know any commands but would be a quick study with the right treats. We will keep everyone updated as we get to know this sweet girl more!
