Volunteer Application
Thank you for your interest in helping the dogs of LCAL! There are three main ways to help our rescue: as a rescue volunteer, as a thrift store volunteer, or as a foster.
1. Rescue Volunteers. Our rescue volunteers walk, pet, snuggle, train, and socialize our dogs. They come to our adoption center in Oceanside to spend quality time with our dogs in their kennels, in our lobby, or on walks. Rescue Volunteers must be 18+ and must commit to a weekly shift of two hours (usually 8-10am, 12-2pm, 4-6pm or 6-7:30pm). Rescue Volunteers go through basic orientation, dog handler orientation, and 2-3 dog walking training sessions.
2. Thrift Store Volunteer. The thrift store is the primary reason we are able to save the dogs that we do, so helping there has a huge impact for our rescue. Thrift store volunteers help with sorting, pricing, and more. Thrift store volunteers must go through the basic orientation and one training at the store. The thrift store volunteer commitment is 4 hours a month.
Fostering is also an amazing way to help a dog and our rescue. We provide all the food and supplies for our fosters—you just provide the love and teach them about home life. If your interest is only in fostering, please fill out the Foster Application instead. https://lastchanceatlife.org/foster-application/
